why does my right hand come off the golf club?

Juni 4, 2010

Sometimes, during my downswing, my right hand comes off the golf club, right after impact. It does not completely come off but it just feels lazy, like it cant keep up with my left arm. If that makes any sense. Im a righty, thanks

  1. Nogood Said,

Your right hand is coming off the club for only one reason. You are holding the club so light that with more arm speed you might just let go of the club completely.

When thinking about how you want to play consider this: Do you want to hit from in front of the ball or behind the ball.

The left side is in front and if you pay too much attention to the left side you’ll be pulling across and most likely slicing the ball continuously.

When you swing with the right side you are swinging from behind the ball.

A simple cure for your initial dilemma is to hold on tighter with the right hand. I teach tightness in the palms not the fingers but you still must hold on tight. If you hold the club loosely then you’ll be very wristy and have a tough time breaking 100.

  2. Joshua B Said,

try gripping the club by interlocking your pinky on your right hand inbetween your index and middle finger on your left hand

  3. K B Said,

    Maybe from playing baseball??
But definately make sure you are gripping it in the fingers of your right hand, not the pad of your hand. If you have the correct grip pressure you shouldnt have to squeeze the club too tightly. In a proper grip the left hand holds the club with more pressure than the right, so thats why I would just check how you are holding it.
