August 19, 2011

Question by forced s: I’ve been golfing for a few twelvemonth today (6-7) with the same ol set of novice nine. what unexampled positioned should i get
Golfed in eminent academy (for a very big squad) so my score weren’t that outstanding. But I’m ok at golf. I dont essay to configuration shot at all (slice or pull). As it is today, i conceive I have something around a 20handicap. I experience that an unexampled posed of nine can aid my competition (for a pt. of mention I played my 5-iron about 180-210) . I dont e’er played my 3 or 4 for a want of body with them. My interrogation is should i go with tiptop competition meliorating irons or only contest improving irons. As it is nowadays i dont transport any loan-blend (possibly I should commence but I simply experience incorrect with em)….. I’ve been conceiving about the Callaway X20′s….. any recommendation??… yes there are class, at least according to Golf Digest they line their irons in three class… Game Improving, Super Game Improving and Tour…. by the style I do played my 5-iron that far, I neglected to name its when i site forth (pitying)geez i place an orbit that i played my 5-iron from the site… i’ve played it over 220 from the site and likely as low-toned as 160… i was merely assaying to infect an orbit of where i experience most my good hit 5 irons go (yes including rim)…. i’ve besides played 300 yd drives (totality way) but am more around a 260-275 when i played that goddamn club good

First of all, you assumed’t hit a 5 iron farther than the professional. Let’s get things in the right perspective.. There is no dentition of irons which is game- improving. That tin only come with an improved swing, understand that swing so you can self correct and practically practice. Once you have develop the activity which cause you rythym, you will find you are hitting statesman consistent shots with every club. First regulation : Don’t maiden displacing !! Practice hit that ball on the center of the club smiler. Center hit go straighter and farther.

  2. Jason G Said,

Distance is measured by how far you hit it in the air. So are you hitting a 5 iron on a par 3 that is 210 yards? As far as clubs, this question is asked so often that it becomes redundant. There are so many to choose from so try them all out. I don’t like the appearance of any Callaway iron other than the X-Tour. I’m not saying they’re not good clubs, but I don’t care for the irons. By your own admission, you’re not a low handicap player, so it would not be a choice for you(the X-Tour). Ping makes excellent equipment as well as Nike, Cobra, TaylorMade, and others. So go to your local golf shop and try out all these brands. Since you have the Golf Digest Magazine, try out the brands they suggested. I prefer Nike, but I have hit other equipment(Ping, Mizuno, and TaylorMade). You won’t go wrong with any of the choices mentioned.

  3. Ron D Said,

    I have a set of X-20′s that I love.

With the distance you can hit the ball, perhaps you should consider the X-20 Tour (as long as money is not an issue).

If you are also looking at woods, then try the X-Series Woods.

And there is nothing wrong with hybrids; almost every player carries one nowadays. And 65% of tour players carry one and 80% on the Champions Tour.

Good luck, and I hope this helps.

Googie makes a lot of good points to which I am going to add to.

Learning the proper swing is the only way to improve your game. To learn the proper swing, visit a PGA professional in your area and take lessons.

Clubs do make a difference. A PGA Pro can assist you in choosing the right club for your game. He or she can custom fit the clubs to match your physical build. You will then have a set of clubs that are the correct length, lie and loft for you. Custom fit clubs do not cost more than off the rack clubs.
