I got an Albatross (a double-eagle). Who should I report it to?

September 13, 2011

Question by Tyler C: I got an Albatross (a double-eagle). Who should I report it to?
This past Saturday (August 18, 2007), I scored a 2 on the 509 yard, par 5, no. 12 at Millwood Golf Club in Springfield, MO, using a driver and a 3-iron. I told the pro-shop about it because they are the one’s who are supposed to call things into the newspaper but the kid behind the counter told me they only call in hole-in-ones. I happened to know a guy who works for the local paper in Springfield and I called him and he had it put in for me.

Is there anyone else I need to report this to? Should I report it to Titleist (I was using a ProV1) or Callaway (I used a Callaway driver and 3-iron). Are there any groups or websites who keep track of these things?

Just curious. This was a once in a lifetime thing so I want to make sure I’m getting it recorded where it needs to be.

Is there a way to prove it if there is I would call both Callaway and titleist.

You know it better? Answer in the comments!

Wow thats awesome. You must be a really good golfer…..=D
Well, about your question, titleist and other brands doesnt really report things unless you get like 2 straight hole in ones or something….. but….. you could try calling like the editor of golf digest or something. Most likely, the kid behind the counter didn’t know what you were talking about so ask the owner or the manager of the golf course if they hold a record book. But dont forget to mention this to your friends and family……. I hope my answer helped…. anyway………nice double eagle…..i hope you have many more!

I wouldn’t bother with the ball and club folks, as they get these stories all the time(from all over the world)! Golf magazines maybe interested depending on how many Albatross have been hit on that course.
I would talk with the Club’s Pro and see what he says!
And remember, You know what you did,and you can always take pride in that!

That is a great accomplishment , Congratulations !! You can report it but they wont do anything but tell you Great Job , You only get real recognition when you report a Hole -In-One , but anyway Great Job !!

very nice! congrads! i suggest you talk with the course owner or the guy in charge, not the kid behind the counter. see if they have a record book or anything similar. again congrads!

First of all, Congratulations. That is more rare than a hole-in-one. I have three of those, but never even come close to an albatross. I think the kid behind the counter didnt know what he was talking about. You do go there to report those. You did right to call the paper there to get your story in, usually they will ask for witnesses to the feat. I would definitely send something in to Titleist and Callaway. I am sure there are alot of Yahoo groups associated with golf to spread you great achievement. I would also try to find as much information as I could about other golf magazines and websites to see if I could get that rare feat publisized. Again, congratulations on your rare but very accomplished achievement.
