Question by Billy Shears: Best Fairway Woods To Choose?? (3 choices)?
My local golf club is selling all fairway woods from 2008 on sale for $ 100. These are the choices:

TaylorMade Burner

Callaway FT-3

Adams idea

Out of those three I would suggest the TaylorMade Burner. TaylorMade makes some of the best fairway woods on the market. Be sure to demo these clubs, proshops often don’t have a problem with a quick demo.

Consider the “Hybrid” style club for fairway woods. I’ve heard the are easier to hit (less bulk) than a standard fairway wood. Something I will at least consider the next time I spend some money on clubs. Good Luck!

They’re all excellent clubs, which makes the choice difficult but the result a success no matter which one you choose.

I think the real question is understanding your swing and how you play on the fairway. A lot of golfers try to avoid taking a divot on the fairway and try to “lift” the ball. The Adams would probably be the wisest choice for this. The low profile design makes it more forgiving.

The Burner and the FT-3 are much higher profile and not really fairway woods, per se. They tend to create more duffs and chunking. However, if you’re a good golfer, they’re both excellent choices.

My recommendation for a true fairway wood, though, would be the Adams.

    Good luck!

I have been using the Adams clubs for 3 years now and I love them. Now of course this is my opinion and maybe a biased one. I have however I have hit the other clubs as my playing partners carry them in their bags. I feel better contact off the Adams with the FT-3 coming in second.
